Opening Orders

To dictate an order, you must first open it. Once you open an order for dictation, the corresponding images are opened in the viewports so that you can view them as you dictate. You can open only one order at a time, but there is no limit to the number of orders you can have open simultaneously. Each order you open appears in its own Patient Record tab, and the Reporting Worklist Module maintains synchronization between the current Patient Record tab and the images that appear in the viewports.

If you open an order with no associated images, the No Images tab appears. If the Alias Studies feature is configured on your IntelePACS, InteleViewer automatically opens the images contained within another order.

When you open an order, it is locked for your use and cannot be dictated by other users. The order remains locked as long as you have it open. If you close it or exit InteleViewer (without dictating it), the lock is removed automatically so that another user can access it. Similarly, you cannot dictate orders that are reserved for or locked by other users.

You can also reserve a selection of orders so that others cannot dictate them.

If you are using the Intelerad Dictation Module, the patient history, impressions, and dictation controls are fully integrated into InteleViewer.
