Navigating Through Reading Steps and Comparable Priors

Once InteleViewer matches a sequence protocol to a study, you can navigate sequentially through each reading step in the sequence protocol, or move through comparable priors to compare them to the current study. You can use the Comparison list to view comparable priors that occur in the past or in the future relative to the current study, if they are available.

If you change the comparable prior using the Patient menu while navigating through reading steps, the comparable prior will not be selected in the Comparison list, and will therefore not be reflected when you go to the next or previous reading step in the sequence protocol.

To navigate through reading steps and comparable priors:

  1. To navigate through reading steps, do the following:

    Press:

    To move to:

    Home

    The first reading step.

    End

    The last reading step.

    Right Arrow

    The next reading step.

    Left Arrow

    The previous reading step.

For single-image-set modalities, such as MR and CT, you can also use the mouse to navigate through reading steps. Middle-click a viewport and choose Steps from the Navigate Through menu, and then rotate the mouse wheel to move to the next or previous reading step in the study. For US, XA, and RF modalities, you must enable the Always Use the Mouse Wheel to Navigate modality preference to navigate through reading steps using the mouse.

For repeated views, InteleViewer displays all repeated images before moving to the next reading step. As you press the arrow keys or use the mouse wheel, you display all repeated views for the given reading step.

  2. To navigate through comparable priors, do the following:

    Press:

    To move to:

    close bracket ]

    The next comparable prior.

    open bracket [

    The previous comparable prior.

You can change the default keyboard shortcuts for navigating through comparable priors in the Layout section of the Keyboard Shortcuts tab in the User Configuration user preferences window. For more information, see Assigning Keyboard Shortcuts. For Mammography and X-ray studies, regardless of the keyboard shortcuts, you can also use the up arrow and down arrow keys to navigate to the next or previous comparable prior.

For single-image-set modalities, such as MR and CT, you can also use the mouse to navigate through comparable priors. Middle-click in a viewport and choose Priors from the Navigate Through menu, and then rotate the mouse wheel to move to the next or previous comparable prior. For US, XA, and RF modalities, you must enable the Always Use the Mouse Wheel to Navigate modality preference to navigate through reading steps using the mouse.

When you navigate through prior studies in a sequence protocol, InteleViewer does not display a prior study that does not match at least one view in the current reading step.

  3. To navigate through series, do the following:

    Press:

    To move to:

    page down

The next series in the study.

    page up

The previous series in the study.

You can also use the mouse to navigate through series. Middle-click a viewport and choose Series in All Viewports to update all viewports with the next page of series, or select Series in Current Viewport to navigate through series in the current viewport only. You can then use the mouse wheel to move to the next or previous series. For US, XA, and RF modalities, you must enable the Always Use the Mouse Wheel to Navigate modality preference to navigate through series using the mouse.

If you navigate through series, or drag a new series into a viewport, the reading steps no longer apply. To return to the reading steps, middle-click a viewport, choose Steps from the Navigate Through menu, and then rotate the mouse wheel.
