Returning Orders to Technologists

Before reading an order, you can return it to the technologist. For example, if you notice that the images are not clear or perhaps the order is incomplete, you can inform the technologist and return the order.

InteleViewer saves the following when you return the order to the technologist:

  • order priority
  • added notes
  • added impressions
  • added critical results
  • added quality reviews
  • key images that are added and were sent to your PACS
  • saved presentation states

You must click Add after creating notes, impressions, and quality reviews to ensure they are saved. If you do not save them, they are discarded when you return the order to the technologist.

When returning orders to the technologist:

  • InteleViewer discards the dictation.
  • For saved drafts, you must open them and send the order back through the Patient Record tab.
  • When you return an order that is linked to other orders, all linked orders return to the technologist.

When you send an order back to the technologist, it is considered Not Ready. It appears in the Not Ready worklist if its date falls within the configured display range for this worklist. If you want to add a note to that order, you can still search for it by accession number in the Ready worklist.

If an order you return is part of an alias group, it might automatically reappear in the Ready worklist. This occurs if your PACS is configured to automatically set all orders of an alias group as completed when only one of the orders is complete.

To send a report back to a technologist:

  1. Do one of the following:

    • From the order in the Patient Record tab, click Return to Technologist.
    • From the Ready worklist, right-click the desired order and select Return to Technologist.

The report moves from the Ready worklist to the Not Ready worklist.
