Dragging and Dropping Images

You can drag images from the viewports and drop them into another application or a directory on the Windows desktop. This method automatically creates a copy of the image as a JPEG file in the selected location. Image manipulations, such as panning and zooming are preserved on the image.

As you cannot drag-and-drop images from the Thumbnail strip to a location outside InteleViewer, this method does not apply to Thumbnail strip images.

The drag and drop method converts the image into a JPEG file, not a TIFF. To export images in either JPEG or TIFF use the Export Images feature or the Quick Export feature.

To drag and drop an image:

  1. Select the required image by clicking its viewport.
  2. In the viewports, manipulate the image as required. For example, pan, rotate, and zoom the image, adjust the window level, add annotations, or hide the text overlay and image overlay.
  3. Click Drag and Swap Drag and Swap icon.
  4. Click the image and drag it to the required location.

The location can be another application or any Windows directory.

  5. Release the mouse button.

A JPEG image file is created in the selected location. The date and time are appended to the file name. For example, if you dragged the file to your desktop at 1:25:52 PM on August 17, 2012 the following appears appended to the file: 20120817_132552.

If you chose to export the image to a directory or on a Windows desktop, the image is saved in that location automatically. If you chose to import it into an application, the image is copied into the file. You therefore must save the file in order to save the image.
