Understanding the Peer Review Worklist

The Peer Reviews tab provides access to reports to review. The main elements of the Peer Reviews tab are the Peer Review worklist, the Patient History panel, and the Current Order panel.

The Peer Review worklist displays all recently distributed reports that have been assigned to you by the PRAE. Each entry in the Peer Review worklist contains one peer review of a prior order's report.

Peer Review Worklist

To find the peer review you require, you can sort the Peer Review worklist. By default, the worklist is sorted by the flagged date and time in ascending order. By sorting the recent reports by the flagged date and time, reviewing radiologists have more control over how quickly they can intervene when discovering a significant discrepancy in interpretation from the original report.

When you select a peer review from your Peer Review worklist, the order opens in a separate tab which displays the Peer Review form in the Current Order panel, and a yellow flag icon Peer Review yellow icon in the Patient History panel. This is where you can view the report, evaluate the interpretation done by another radiologist, indicate the actions taken, add any comments regarding the review, and then send email notifications of discrepant reviews to the required people.

The Peer Review worklist supports grouped procedures, so if your IntelePACS is configured to use them, a single peer review can relate to multiple procedures within an order, as selected by the dictating radiologist.

The Peer Review worklist is refreshed automatically every 5 minutes. The default refresh value can be configured by Intelerad Technical Support. Please contact the Intelerad Technical SupportCenter for more information.

You can also refresh the list yourself by clicking the Refresh Worklist button or by pressing F5.

InteleViewer automatically removes any peer review requests from the Peer Review worklist that are older than 90 days to avoid performance degradation over time. This may be the case if, for example, a reviewing radiologist has taken a leave of absence, and peer review requests continue to accumulate on the radiologist's worklist.

The maximum age of a report that can appear in the Peer Review worklist is configurable. To change the default value, contact your PACS administrator.
