Enhancing the Edges or Contrast in Images
You can apply a filter to an X-ray image to improve how the image is displayed in the viewport. Using a filter in conjunction with other tools may enable you to distinguish details in the image that would otherwise be difficult to see. When you apply one of the filters, an indication appears in the text overlay. You cannot save the effects of the applied filter when you create a key image series, save a presentation state, tag a study, create a sequence protocol, print an image, or export an image.
To apply an image enhancement filter:
-
Select the X-ray image.
-
In the toolbar, click the Image Enhancement menu
. -
Select the filter you want to apply:
- Sharpen: to enhance the edges in the image.
- CLAHE: to use Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) to improve the contrast in the image.
The Image Enhancement tool is updated to reflect the selected filter. You can click the Image Enhancement tool to apply or remove the selected filter.
-
To select a different filter, choose it from the menu or press F (or your custom keyboard shortcut) to cycle through them.
- To remove the filter from the image, click Clear Image Enhancement from the menu.
