Choosing a Dictation System

You can configure the Reporting Worklist Module to work with several digital dictation systems:

• Intelerad’s Dictation Module
• Multi-Method Reporting with Multimodal Technologies (MMR with M*Modal)
• Multi-Method Reporting with Dictation Module (MMR with Dictation Module)
• PowerScribe 360 and RadWhere (unidirectional or bi-directional)
• ClickView
• Dolbey Fusion Dictate
• Voice2Dox from Integrated Document Solutions
• Crescendo
• MedInformatix
• COMRAD
• Winscribe
• rMan from MTIcube Incorporated
• DigiDictate-IP from Crescendo
• Comdic
• Fluency for Imaging

If you are using a hand-held tape recorder or other device, you can also choose not to use an integrated digital dictation system.

To digitally dictate reports, your system must be configured with a dictation voice recorder. For information on using all other digital dictation systems, please refer to the product documentation.

To choose a dictation system:

1. From InteleViewer, choose Utilities | User Preferences (Ctrl+U).

   The User Preferences dialog appears.

   You cannot change your dictation system if you have any Patient Record tabs currently open or if your dictation is being transferred to the IntelePACS server. Close Patient Record tabs and wait for dictations to transfer before continuing.

2. From the Application menu, click Dictation System.

3. From the Current Dictation System list, select the system that you want to use.

   The dictation system is workstation-specific, and therefore does not roam.

   Select:	To dictate reports by using:
   No Dictation System	A hand-held tape recorder or other system. You cannot create an addendum when No Dictation System is selected.
   Multi-Method Reporting with M*Modal	M*Modal’s Speech Understanding platform.
   Muti-Method Reporting with Dictation Module	A version of Multi-Method Reporting that you use to create custom report templates.
   Dictation Module	Intelerad’s Dictation Module.
   PowerScribe	A unidirectional version of PowerScribe from Nuance Healthcare Systems.
   RadWhere	A unidirectional version of RadWhere from Nuance Healthcare Systems.
   IDS	Voice2Dox from IDS. When you select either IDS or Voice2Dox as your dictation system, you are selecting the Voice2Dox speech-recognition system. IDS, however, is an earlier version of the system.
   MedInformatix	MedInformatix Dictation System.
   Dolbey	Dolbey Fusion Dictate.
   COMRAD	COMRAD Dictation System.
   WinScribe	WinScribe Digital Dictation.
   Bi-directional RadWhere	RadWhere from Nuance Healthcare Systems.
   PowerScribe 360	PowerScribe 360 from Nuance Healthcare Systems.
   PowerScribe 360 with ClickView	PowerScribe 360 from Nuance Healthcare Systems or ClickView (ultrasound orders). Your IntelePACS must be integrated with ClickView.
   rMan	rMan from MTIcube Inc.
   Voice2Dox	Voice2Dox from IDS. When you select either IDS or Voice2Dox as your dictation system, you are selecting the Voice2Dox speech-recognition system. IDS, however, is an earlier version of the system.
   Crescendo	DigiDictate-IP by Crescendo.
   Comdic	Comdic Dictation System.
   Fluency for Imaging	Fluency for Imaging from M*Modal.

4. Refer to the appropriate section below for configuration specifications.

5. Click OK.

   The application window for the dictation system appears when you log in to InteleViewer. If you selected a PowerScribe dictation system, a message appears when you log in to InteleViewer indicating the launch status of the dictation system.
