Saving a Draft Report or Draft Addendum

While dictating or self-editing a report or an addendum, you can save a draft and resume dictating or self-editing later. Saving a draft is useful if you are interrupted while dictating or self-editing, and you need to access another order.

If you save a draft while dictating, the audio recording is saved and associated with the order. If you are dictating linked orders, InteleViewer associates the same audio recording to each linked order.

If you save a draft while self-editing, the audio recording and additional draft text is saved and associated with the order. If you are self-editing linked orders, InteleViewer associates the same audio recording and additional draft text to each linked order.

When you save a draft report, the order and all linked orders remain locked until the report is signed, sent to a transcriptionist, or discarded. When you save a draft addendum, the order is not locked since an order can have multiple addenda created by different radiologists.

You can resume dictating or self-editing a draft by opening the order again. For linked orders, opening any linked order resumes the draft report or draft addendum.

When you open the draft report, the template name changes to Saved Draft.

If you resume a draft and then close the Patient Record tab and select Discard, the entire draft is discarded. The entire draft includes the changes that you have made since resuming the draft plus the previously saved draft and any audio recordings. Saved draft reports or draft addenda are removed from the PACS when the following occurs:

  • The report or addendum is signed.
  • A draft report or draft addendum is resumed.
  • The PACS administrator releases the report lock and removes the saved draft reports associated with the order.

If the report lock is released for an order with a draft report or an audio recording, any drafts and audio recordings are discarded. For more information, see your PACS administrator.
