Linking Viewports to Manipulate Images

You can link viewports to perform image manipulations on multiple images simultaneously. For example, to pan and zoom a specific region of interest on all related views at the same time, you can link the viewports containing the images in question. The image manipulations you perform are then applied to the images in the selected viewports to the same degree. Depending on the modality, the image manipulations you can perform on linked viewports are: zoom, pan, stack, window level, and invert. For example, you can zoom, pan, and invert MG images, but zoom, pan and window level X-ray images.

Use modality preferences to set the image manipulations you can perform in linked viewports.

Linked viewports

To link viewports:

  1. Press and hold the Ctrl key while clicking the viewports that you want to link.

A dim yellow border appears around the linked viewports. The last viewport you select becomes the current viewport and is identified by a bright yellow border. The Auto/Manual Link button is disabled. The mouse cursor changes to reflect that the viewports are linked.

  2. If necessary, click a viewport within the group of linked viewports to select a new current viewport.
  3. Select one of the image manipulation tools that are enabled for linked viewports and then adjust the images as required.

For more information about manipulating images, see Orienting Images or Adjusting the Window Levelling.

If you enabled the Auto Linked Stacking feature in your modality preferences, the Stacking feature will be enabled for all linked viewports. Only the related images however, will stack simultaneously. Those images that are not related will not stack.

  4. To remove a viewport from the group, press and hold the Ctrl key while clicking the viewport you want to remove from the group.
  5. To ungroup the viewports, click outside the selected viewports.

The dim yellow borders disappear around the linked viewports.
