Recording Case Details

Once you add the images that comprise your teaching case, you can record information about the case, including ACR codes and clinical history. In addition to providing background information to whomever might view the case, this information will also be used when you search for the case on the IntelePACS. You can also assign access rights to the teaching case, to limit the ability of other users to view or edit it.

If available from a RIS, the Clinical History and Clinical Findings fields are completed automatically. However, you still can modify the fields, if needed. When you modify these fields, the information contained in the RIS is not affected.

To record case details:

  1. In the Teaching Case Editor, click the Case Details tab.

Your user name appears in the Author field automatically.

  2. Enter information about the case in the relevant fields.

The list of available Anatomy and Pathology options depend on your IntelePACS configuration. For more information, contact your PACS administrator.

The Keywords you enter will be remembered the next time you add case details. Previously used keywords appear in the list as you type.

Select Anonymize to protect the patient health information (PHI) contained in the teaching cases. For more information on anonymization, see Working with Teaching Cases.

The information entered in the Clinical History, Findings and Notes fields of the Case Details tab is not subject to anonymization. Any note left in these fields will be displayed unchanged in the anonymized study. Please make sure to remove manually any PHI appearing in these fields.

  3. Choose one of the following access rights:

    Select:

    To make teaching case:

    Private

Accessible to only the author. The case will not appear in other users’ search results.

    Readable By All (default)

Viewable by all users. Only the author of the teaching case may edit or delete it.

    Public

Viewable and editable by all users. However, only the author can change access rights.

If you make a case Readable by All or Public, and it is added to non-private collections, you will not be able to change the case’s access rights to Private later. Furthermore, a teaching case that is given Private access rights cannot be added to a Readable by All or Public collection.
