Inserting Order Information in Quick Texts

Radiologists fill parts of a report by cutting and pasting, or dictating order information from the original order. To improve efficiency, you can create quick texts that includes special information fields that automatically insert order information.

To insert order information in a quick text:

  1. In the Quick Text Editor, place the cursor where you want to insert the order information field.
  2. Click the auto drop-down list and choose one of the following recognized items:

    Select:

In the Quick Text Editor, the order information field is represented by the item name within shaded brackets. For example, if you select Accession Number, the following appears in your quick text: [Accession Number]. Since order information relies on specific order data, the order information does not appear until you insert the quick text into a draft report.

If the order information field is a person’s name, such as Patient Name or Referring Physician, the name appears as title case. For example, the patient name JOHN DOE appears as John Doe.

For MMR with M*Modal, if the order information field is a date, such as the Date of Birth or Study Date, your PACS administrator sets the date format using additional administration tools supplied by M*Modal.

For linked orders, the text displayed is taken from the leading order. The leading order is the first order that you have selected. For example, if you insert the Organization field in your quick text, the leading order's organization appears in the report.
