Selecting a Diagnostic Code
You can assign diagnostic codes to orders as part of the dictation process. Although diagnostic codes can be equated with the reason for the exam, diagnostic codes are used strictly for billing purposes and do not appear on the final report. You can assign multiple diagnostic codes to a report.
Diagnostic codes are only available for Multi-Method Reporting with M*Modal.
To select a diagnostic code:
-
Do one of the following:
- Type a minimum of three characters (letters or numbers) corresponding to the diagnostic code that you want to associate to the report and then select the diagnostic code that appears.
- Type a minimum of three characters (letters or numbers) in the diagnostic code description and then select the diagnostic code that appears.
InteleViewer searches in both the diagnostic code and the diagnostic code description for these characters. For example, if you type "liv", InteleViewer displays "Liver Infection", "Cirrrhosis of Liver" and "A-LIV209 Hepatitis A".
-
Type a single or multiple keywords.
If you type one keyword, InteleViewer searches for diagnostic codes that contain this keyword. If you type multiple keywords separated by a space, for example "liver disease", InteleViewer searches for diagnostic codes that contain both keywords "liver" and "disease, such as "liver disease".
-
To remove a diagnostic code, click the X next to the diagnostic code.
The diagnostic codes that you select are not saved when you send the file to the transcriptionist or when you save the report as a draft.
