Viewing Scale Rulers

Use the scale rulers to obtain a quick real-world estimate of the size of a structure in the image without having to explicitly measure it or calibrate the image. The rulers are created by InteleViewer in proportion to the size of the viewport; they are not derived from the DICOM image.

Scale rulers appear on the left and bottom borders of the viewport. Each mark on the ruler represents a centimeter, with large lines every five centimeters. Their color is determined by the Image Orientation Text Color preference.

If you calibrate the image, the rulers appear automatically.

You can choose whether to show or hide the rulers, as needed. When you exit InteleViewer your scale ruler setting will be remembered. For example, if the scale rulers are active when you exit, they will be active the next time you start InteleViewer.

To view scale rulers:

  1. From the main menu, choose View | Scale Rulers.

A check mark appears next to the option to indicate that it is active. The scale rulers appear in the viewports.

  2. To hide the rulers, from the main menu, choose View | Scale Rulers again.
