About Matching Patients for Prior Studies
Inconsistencies in patient information can result in a patient having various orders under different names in the PACS. InteleViewer uses a probability-based calculation method to search the PACS for patients who are a likely match to the current patient except for certain discrepancies in the patient information. These possible matches are referred to as candidates.
Your IntelePACS can be configured to use one of the following candidate-matching methods:
- Last name: Matches candidates whose last name is equal to the last name of the current patient.
- Date of birth: Matches candidates whose date of birth is equal to the date of birth of the current patient.
- RAMQ number or last name: Matches candidates whose RAMQ (Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec) number or last name is equal to the RAMQ number or last name of the current patient.
By default, InteleViewer uses the last-name-matching method. If you require a different candidate-matching method, contact your PACS administrator.
InteleViewer lists candidates in the Patient Record tab based on a confidence level and a threshold. The confidence level measures the matching probability of the patient record. The threshold is the minimum confidence value above which candidates are possible matches and are displayed in the Patient Record tab.
For example, if your threshold is set to 50% (the default value), only patients with a confidence level of 50% or higher appear in the Patient Record tab. For information on threshold settings, see your PACS administrator.
