Reformatting and Rendering Datasets

The dataset you work with in Advanced Visualization is a copy of the original dataset stored on your IntelePACS. When you first open an image by using Advanced Visualization, a progress bar appears, indicating that this data is being loaded. Once the data is loaded, you can then manipulate it to view Advanced Visualization reformats or 3D renderings.

The reformatted series data and time text overlay displays the date and time the original series was created.

Whether the dataset is rendered locally or remotely depends on the hardware capabilities of your workstation. If your workstation is powerful enough to render the dataset, then the status bar indicates that the dataset is rendered locally. If your workstation is not powerful enough, then the dataset is rendered on a remote server, the status bar indicates the name and location of the remote server.

For series whose slice separation is not uniform, and whose image planes are not parallel, InteleViewer selects the largest block of images in the series with uniform slice separation and parallel image planes for Advanced Visualization reformatting. If the largest block of images also does not meet the criteria, then the series cannot be reformatted.

Your Advanced Visualization reformats or renderings cannot be saved to the IntelePACS and therefore are not available when you close and reload the original dataset. To save the Advanced Visualization dataset, however, you can save it as a presentation state.

To automatically save your Advanced Visualization dataset, ask your PACS administrator to enable the Save Presentation State privilege in your user account.
